Features & Compatibility

Urban Platter sun-dried rose petals: Poets throughout time have been enchanted by the ethereal charm of roses. Beyond their allure, these flowers have functional uses; specifically, dried rose petals are versatile ingredients for a range of lovely DIY projects. They can lend a captivating scent to potpourri and fabric sachets, provide a decorative touch to interior spaces, or act as whimsical confetti for wedding celebrations. I’m not entirely sure why, but I felt a strong urge to try crafting with dried roses-their elegance and richness are simply too appealing to pass up. Here are a few charming ways to use dried roses:

1. **Rose Water – Making your own rose water is easy, and it serves well as a facial toner or a refreshing mist for clothing and linens.
2. **Rose Petal Ice Cubes – To make these, fill an ice cube tray with water up to the three-quarter mark and freeze it. Once frozen, place a single rose petal on each cube, top with another teaspoon of water, and freeze again.
3. **Potpourri – Dried rose petals are an essential component of potpourri because they hold onto their colour and scent for quite a long time. A blend of lavender and rose makes for an especially beautiful combination.
4. **Rose Bath Tea – Including roses in a bath tea blend imparts a calming and lovely fragrance. My personal preference is to mix them with chamomile to make customised bath tea bags.
5. **Rose and Clay Face Mask – Mix 2 teaspoons of white clay with 1 teaspoon of dried rose petals-either ground or powdered. Add just enough water to form a paste. Smooth the mixture over your face, avoiding the eye area, let it rest for 15 minutes, and then wash it away with warm water and a washcloth.
6. **Facial Steam – Including roses in a facial steam can make the ritual feel more luxurious. You can either toss a few into a bowl of steaming water on their own or combine them with herbs like lavender and chamomile for a floral facial steam.
7. **Rose Sachets for Drawers – Place dried roses inside muslin pouches and tuck them into your drawers to keep things smelling fresh.
8. **In Body Wash – I’ve personally made a straightforward lemon and rose body wash, but roses can also be combined with a variety of other scents to create custom blends.
